Well, let's see we are 30 weeks pregnant, so far so good. 10 to 11 weeks left to go, at the most!
We had our last ultrasound last Thursday and everything is perfect. At the anatomy scan several weeks ago the placenta was too close to my cervix so that was the reason for the late ultrasound. If my placenta hadn't migrated up to the top of my uterus then it would have meant a scheduled C-section since the placenta would have been delivered first...not a good thing at all for mom and baby! We were very nervous to be heading into this ultrasound since a natural childbirth is very important to both of us. We have been taking Bradley Birth Method classes and really want to put all this practice and everything we've learned to good use in a few weeks.
So drum roll......the placenta moved and we are all in the clear for our natural childbirth! Ayla weighs a little over 3 pounds, 60th percentile in weight for this stage of the pregnancy, we know she's going to be a big girl! Robby and I were big babies...
Ayla didn't really want to cooperate for the pics, her hand was in front of her face, just like I hold my hands by my face when I am sleeping. Stubborn just like her mommy. When Robby asked her to move her hand, she heard him, woke up, opened her eyes and smiled!!!
It looked like to us that she has her daddy's one dimple on her left cheek...we'll see for sure when she's born. Also, the sonographer told us she has a little bit of dark hair, which made me really happy. I want her to look like a little girl from day one!
Robby and I also got the chance to tour the brand new East Cooper Regional Medical Center where Ayla will be born. The hospital doesn't open until April 1st, so we will for sure get to deliver there. It is such a beautiful place. To help with making the hospital birth a good experience we have hired our Bradley teacher as our doula. We now feel so much more equipped to do this with her help!!
We will take some new pics this week and post, until then...
