Ayla eating

A great week!

So this was a great week for us, not too much happened. Except a bunch of cute Ayla pics!!

She thinks she can feed herself...
This was our wild and crazy friday night...

She literally fell asleep at dinner while I was re-loading her spoon! She ended up taking 3 more bites in her sleep...

4 Months!!!

Here are some pics from the last week. Enjoy!

Well, Ayla was 4 months old last week. That meant a visit to the pediatrician and more shots (friday). Ayla did great, she cried for just a minute then smiled at the staff as we were leaving! I really don't like seeing her cry from pain, but I know that is something I'll never get used to and this is for her own good. She had a great rest of the day at daycare and we even left for the beach house when she went to bed friday night. She did spike a slight fever saturday afternoon but a half dose of tylenol took care of it.
We went to Divine Prime for dinner saturday night with the family but really it's just too late in the day to expect Ayla to sit in a high chair and be happy. So we spread a blanket on the floor and had tummy time right there in the restaurant. Thank goodness they weren't busy!

Our normal evenings are spent on her activity mat, bumbo, on the porch or listening to Pandora's "Raffi" children's radio, she loves it!!
We got a lot of laughs, squeals and giggles from her this weekend, it was awesome!!!

It seems I forget to post, take pictures of and talk about the dogs anymore...it's true that when you have a baby the pets take a little bit of a back seat. Don't get me wrong, I love them both but Ayla rules.
Roxy was fairly good this week. By fairly good I mean that she didn't destroy anything valued over $50 bucks so that's a plus. She had a blast playing with Heidi (Robby's parents Doberman) this weekend. Ellie Grace stayed home, it's great having a little dog that is paper-trained and trust-worthy to stay in the house by herself. Our neighbor Jessica comes to check on her just to be sure she's ok. Ellie used to always go with us but since our nephews Connor and Tommy were in town we left her home. She's not fond of little people.... but somehow is great with Ayla. Go figure, I guess she knows she's part of the family. Ellie also had a bath and a haircut this week. Much needed, she was starting to look like a homeless yorkie...

Ayla is still doing great with eating baby food. She has had pears and bananas this week and loved them both. I think there may be some truth that what you craved during pregnancy is what your baby will like the most. I couldn't eat enough fruit when I was preggo...

She's averaging about 35-40 ounces a day, that's formula and rice cereal in the bottles plus 2 feedings a day of a tablespoon of oatmeal and 2 tablespoons or so of a fruit or veggie. The pediatrician told me to let her eat as much as she wants as long as she averages 30 ounces a day. I laughed and said 30 is easy money to Ayla boo... I love that I have a good eater.

Ayla jabbering away

Ayla had been silent...until this day and we happened to catch it on video. All of a sudden she started "talking". I was honestly getting worried about her lack of communication, turns out she was too concerned with rolling over, army crawling and figuring out those darn hands of hers. But now she is a jabbering, laughing little girl who loves to tell everything that's on her mind. I just wish I knew what she was saying....

Ayla's poo face & noises!!!

We had put Ayla in the car seat to go to Sam's club, as you can see we had to do a diaper change before we even left the house.

We plan on showing this video to any eligible suitors that come to our door when she is young woman.....maybe they will think twice about taking our daughter out on a date... ;)

Ayla smiling at daddy

This video was taken the weekend BEFORE she started jabbering away...looks like she has a lot to say but it just wouldn't come out!

Funny Ayla pics

Napping Ayla

Ayla b. boo taking a nap, notice she has her butt up in the air... like she just doesn't care

Prune Face!!

This is Ayla b. boo after eating a generous helping of single-grain oatmeal and PRUNES!!! She loves them!
We started "solids" this week (a week before she turns 4 months). I know that's early, but our fabulous pediatrician Dr. Caristi told us to start before she came back for her 4 month checkup. She apparently could tell at her 2 month check up that developmentally she would be ready for solids on or around September 1st. So we tried, and it worked!
So far she has had organic sweet peas, sweet potatoes and prunes. She also started with rice cereal and now is having single grain oatmeal.
We are using organic when ever possible and with all the choices out there that won't be hard at all to stick with!
I know a lot of people are making their babyfood homemade and I applaud that but it's just not for me. Babyfood will do her just fine until she goes to table food with mom and dad.
We are certainly commited to teaching her healthy eating and exercising habits along with the occasional splurge... :)

No hands needed for this one, our little one sitting all pretty!

Ayla gnawing on Sophie the Giraffe

Ever since Ayla was born she seems to gravitate towards giraffes...Sophie is no exception!

This is daddy holding our sleeping angel at the beach house during Labor Day weekend.

Daddy again with the sleeping princess!

Ayla's first trip in the ocean and she loved it!!
